Thing 11 B I have used Voki successfully with students. It is a great motivator. It is important however to have students practice before recording. In this example, I have created a book talk to kick off the Battle of the Books at Martin Kellogg.
I agree with you in that using Voki can be lots of fun, especially with students at the elementary level. I would also agree with allowing for lots of practice time. The more familiar they are with their part, the easier it is to record and the happier the students are with the outcome. Helping them learn to speak slowly, clearly and loud enough into the mic. are key points to remember too.
I see this as a definite possibility for Reader's Responses. I also learned about creating Voice Threads and Prezzies yesterday and think that these are also excellent possibilities. Magie
Your comment about practicing before recording reminded me of an endearing story about when Sam's kids made a video for the Life Skills program. The trial runs were as memorable as the final version. :-)
